Privacy Policy
Vuurmaker is owned and operated by Kloweb Industries (Kloweb.co.za). This policy explains how we process personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Vuurmaker is an 18+ community app — by using it you confirm you are 18 years or older.
What we collect
- Account: your phone number (used only to sign in via a texted code — no password is stored). Signing in with email instead is still available; either way, no password is stored. If you sign in with Google, Apple, or Facebook instead, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from that provider to create your account.
- Profile: display name, town, province, and language preference, all optional and editable. We also capture your real first/last name at signup (not shown publicly — used only as a trust signal).
- Content you post: photos, videos, live streams (and their viewer counts/reactions), captions, chirps (reactions), recipes, vendor tags, quiz history, event/RSVP/check-in details, and comments you create.
- Braai setup (optional): fire type and a free-text description of your setup, shown only if you choose to fill it in — used to help us pick advertisers relevant to you rather than ones that annoy you.
- Invites: if you sign up through someone's invite link, we record who invited you — this is used only to award the inviter's badge and give admins light context when reviewing reports, never shown publicly on your profile.
- Moderation: if you file or are the subject of a report, the report category and details are stored and visible to admins only.
- Usage analytics (first-party only): which pages/areas of the app you visit and which Spesials ads/coupons you interact with, so we can understand how the app is used and show advertisers what they're getting for their spend. This is aggregate usage data, not sold or shared with any ad network.
- Photo/video storage: media is hosted on Vercel Blob (or Cloudflare R2, depending on configuration) — a Vercel/Cloudflare sub-processor, not a separate advertiser.
What we don’t do
- No third-party advertising network, no third-party ad tracking, no selling personal information.
- No third-party analytics — usage data described above is collected and stored by us only.
- Your phone number and email are never shown to other users — only your display name and town.
Who can see what
By default, posts and Flitse videos are visible to any signed-in user — this is the whole point of a shared braai community. When you post, you can choose Maats only instead, which limits that post/video to you and your accepted maats. Recipes have a third option, Only me, for the ones you're not ready to share. Comments are always maats-only regardless of the post's visibility. Everything else — your profile, badges, leaderboard position, Braai Buddies pairings, and quiz win/fail history — is part of the shared app experience and always visible to other signed-in users; it can't be set to private. Event pages (/events/[id]) are intentionally public so an invite link works without an account — anyone with the link can see the event details and guest list; signing in is only required to RSVP, check in, claim a checklist item, or play that event's quiz.
Retention & deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your own account at any time from Profile → Instellings → Gevaarsone — no need to email us. Deleting your account removes your posts, photos, videos, recipes, live streams, chirps, and comments; a few things that belong to a shared event you're part of but didn't host (e.g. a checklist claim) are cleared rather than deleted outright, and if you host an event other people have RSVP'd to, you'll need to cancel or hand it over first. For anything the in-app deletion doesn't cover — or to request access to or correction of your data instead — email the address below.
Moderation
Reported content is reviewed by admins. Filing a false or malicious report is itself grounds for account action. Being banned stops you from posting, chirping, or RSVPing, but your existing history is not deleted.
